Scholarship Information

        The Aviation Technology Department, at Indiana State University, has two different types of scholarships available.  The first scholarships is open only to "New" incoming freshmen into the Professional Aviation Flight Technology program.  The remaining scholarships are open only to students currently majoring in the Aviation Technology Department.

Scholarship open only to current freshmen majoring in the ISU Professional Aviation Flight Technology program.

 

  • John Michael Wood Memorial Aviation Endowment Scholarship - Application process begins each year during the last few weeks of the Fall semester.  Posters will be put up around the department and faculty will also mention the application date in their classes.  Please contact Prof. Bruce Welsh for any additional information.

Scholarships open only to students currently enrolled full-time in the ISU Aviation Department.

 

  • Capt. Ralph C. Miller Memorial Scholarship
  • Dennis J. Hunter Memorial Scholarship
  • Jeffrey Hardaway Memorial Scholarship
  • John A. Merrit Memorial Scholarship
  • Kenneth S. Papkoff Memorial Scholarship
  • Pegasus Scholarship
  • Professional Pilot Endowment Scholarship
  • Quentin R. Beecher Memorial Scholarship

Jeffrey Hardaway Memorial Scholarship

  • ISU Aviation Major
  • Enthusiastic attitude towards an aviation career
  • Complete between 48 and 112 semester hours for the award to be presented
  • Accumulate GPA of 2.7 or better
     
  • Major GPA of 3.0 or better
  •  Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon & after application
  •  Monetary award, approximately $600, will be applied to academic fees at ISU
  •  Financial need positively considered

 
Quentin R. Beecher Memorial Scholarship

  •  ISU Aviation Major
  •  Enthusiastic attitude towards an aviation career  
  • Freshman or sophomore upon application  
  • Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon application  
  • Accumulative GPA of 2.7 or better with a major GPA of 3.0 or better  
  • Possess an FAA Private Pilot Certificate upon application  
  • Must pursue an FAA Commercial Certificate or higher  
  • Monetary award, approximately $280, will be applied to academic fees at ISU

 

 
Kenneth S. Papkoff Memorial Scholarship

  •  ISU Professional pilot or two-year general aviation flight major
  •  Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon application
  • Accumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
     
  • Designed to assist worthy and deserving students
     
  • Renewable scholarship enabling recipient to reapply the following academic year
     
  • Monetary award, $750, will be applied to academic fees at ISU

 

 Dennis J. Hunter Memorial Scholarship

  •  ISU Professional Pilot Major  
  • Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon application  
  • Accumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  •  Posses an FAA Private Pilot Certificate upon application and working on an advanced pilot certificate or rating (Preference giving to those pursuing a multi-engine rating or CFI certificate)  
  • Designed to assist worthy and deserving students  
  • Monetary award, approximately $400, will be applied to academic fees at ISU

 

Capt. Ralph C. Miller Memorial Scholarship

  •  ISU Professional Pilot Major
  •  Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon application  
  • Designed to assist worthy and deserving students  
  • Accumulative GPA of 2.5 or better  
  • Monetary award, approximately $350, will be applied to academic fees at ISU

 

John A. Merrit Memorial Scholarship

  •  Completed sophomore year as a Professional Pilot Major at ISU 
  • Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon application  
  • Accumulative GPA of 2.75 or better with a Major GPA of 3.0 or better  
  • Full-time student during issuance of scholarship
  •  Must perform between 10-15 hours of community service during the Fall semester, after selection for the award
  • A monthly progress report of service performed must be submitted to the department chairperson
  •  Monetary award will not be presented until Spring semester and only after the 10-15 hours of community service has been performed  
  • Monetary award, approximately $300, will be applied to academic fees at ISU

 

Professional Piloting Endowment Scholarship

  •  Deserving female student  
  • Full time ISU Aviation student (12 semester hours or more) upon application  
  • ISU Professional Pilot Major
  •  Accumulated GPA of 3.0 or better  
  • Monetary award, approximately $600, will be applied to academic fees at ISU

Pegasus Scholarship

  •  ISU Professional Aviation Flight Technology major  
  • Accumulate grade point average of 3.0 or better  
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours  
  • Full time student (12 semester hours or more ) upon issuance of scholarship  
  • Possess an FAA Private Pilot Certificate upon application  
  • Strong interest in pursuing a professional aviation career  
  • Designed to assist worthy and deserving students of high moral character  
  • Monetary award, approximately $500, to be paid to help defray flying cost
  •  Requires submission of a typed one page letter describing why the applicant should be
